In response to the recent protest and resistance by local residents against the army’s attempt to rescue four armed terrorists detained by villagers in Tabla Para, the presence of joint forces—including the army and BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh)—has reportedly increased in Guimara. This has sparked fears among the public that a raid might be conducted at night.
According to reports, on Sunday morning (September 7, 2025), four armed Bengali men allegedly sent by the army entered Tabla Para—located near the border of Guimara and Manikchari upazilas—on two motorcycles. It was later discovered that they had forcibly brought two indigenous motorcycle drivers from Sindukchari market. Their target was to attack members of the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF).
When locals became aware of the armed men’s presence, they mobilized and confronted them. During the standoff, the armed men fired two blank rounds in an attempt to intimidate the crowd. However, the villagers stood their ground and managed to apprehend them with one automatic weapon.
Shortly afterward, a large number of army personnel arrived at the scene and attempted to take custody of the four armed individuals. The villagers protested this attempt. After a prolonged standoff, the army eventually succeeded in taking the armed men into their custody.
Later in the afternoon, while transporting the four men by vehicle, the army encountered another protest by angry locals in Kalapani area of Hafchari Union in Guimara upazila. The protesters blocked the army’s vehicle and continued voicing their opposition. At one point, the army baton-charged the protesters and then fired blank rounds to disperse the crowd. The armed men were then taken away by the army.
It has been reported that at least 20–25 people, including women, were injured in the indiscriminate baton charge by the army. However, their names could not be confirmed.

Detailed information about the four armed assailants is not yet available. However, there is no doubt that they were sent by the army. Moreover, under pressure from the enraged public, they were heard identifying themselves as army personnel.
This incident has sparked widespread concern among the public and the conscious community regarding the role of the army. Many have raised questions about whether the army is deliberately trying to incite communal unrest. The incident has also triggered a strong reaction on social media.
