There have been reports of extensive military raids and several detentions in multiple villages of Ghilachari Union, under Naniarchar Upazila in Rangamati, including Keretchari, Digholchari, Dajjyachari, Punarbasan, Gorahaba, Hatimara, Maichchari, and Nuoadam.
According to sources, in the early hours of Tuesday (September 9, 2025), around 4:00 AM, 100 to 150 army personnel from several camps under the Naniarchar zone — including the Burighat and Kudukchari camps — conducted operations by dividing into several groups and arriving in these villages via engine-powered boats and speedboats. Local residents report that the military searched several houses and detained a few individuals.
Houses that were reportedly searched include those of:
- Manikya Devi Chakma (50), wife of Munya Chakma
- Badi Mila Chakma (40), wife of Kinadhan Chakma
- Shimul Chakma (32), son of Sadhana Chakma
- Sweety Chakma (27), wife of Amar Bijoy Chakma
- Humayun Chakma (24), son of Nakkocan Chakma
- Nakkocan Chakma, son of the late Rabakke Chakma
- Sneha Kumar Chakma (45), son of Dhansukh Chakma
- Dipu Chakma (29), son of Golokchandra Chakma
All of them are residents of Dajjyachari village, Ward No. 9 of Ghilachari Union Parishad.
In Ward No. 5 of the same union, the house of Tukkuchan Chakma (45), son of Chandrakanta Chakma, a resident of Nuoadam, was also searched.
Additionally, there are allegations that the house of Chandan Chakma (55), a former member of Ward No. 2 in Kudukchari Union under Rangamati Sadar Upazila, son of the late Bangalya Karbari, was also searched.
It has been reported that 20–22 villagers from different areas were detained at the Dajjyachari market while they were on their way to carry out daily work.
Some of the detained individuals have been identified, including:
- Humayun Chakma (24), son of Nakkocan Chakma
- Nakkocan Chakma (45), son of the late Barakke Chakma
- Sneha Kumar Chakma (45), son of Dhansukh Chakma
- Dipu Chakma (29), son of Golokchandra Chakma
- Ujjal Chakma (33), son of Shanti Kumar Chakma, from Nuoadam, Ward No. 5 of the same union
Apart from conducting searches in these villages, it has also been reported that army personnel are patrolling the Chengi River using boats, and are conducting searches on vehicles traveling the Ghilachari–Kudukchari road.
