The Army reportedly conducted a search operation in the name of an ‘operation’ at the house of a villager in Nangel Para, Ramgarh upazila, Khagrachari district.
According to local sources, today, Friday (December 12, 2025), at 3:30 AM, Bangladesh Army personnel went to the house of Pushpa Moni Chakma, ordered him to open the door, and woke him up. They then asked, “Where is your real home? Why have you come here? Have you eaten rice?”
Pushpa Moni stated that he is living on his ancestral land. The Army personnel further said, “Will you be able to go to Guimara Camp? We will give you corrugated iron sheets.”
During the ‘operation,’ an Army member in uniform spoke to someone on the phone outside and informed them that they had entered the wrong house. The Army personnel then quickly left the premises.

Approximately 20 minutes later, at 3:50 AM, Army members went to the house of Batya Chakma (42), son of Sadhanya Chakma, in the same village and conducted a search. The soldiers woke him up, entered the house, and ransacked all the belongings.
After finding nothing illegal, the soldiers demanded to know from Batya Chakma, “Where is Jiyan?”
When Batya informed them, “Jiyan does not live here,” the soldiers responded, “We saw Jiyan living here on the drone.”
When Batya Chakma questioned the soldiers about the ransacking of his belongings, the duty-officer soldier became angry and said, “We can do anything.”
The sudden search operation in the dead of night has caused anxiety and fear among the villagers.
