One person is missing following an attack on local workers of the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) in Dhulya village in Matiranga Upazila, Khagrachhari district, on Thursday morning, October 29, 2026, according to local sources.

The attack reportedly occurred around 8:30 a.m. in Ward No. 1 of Matiranga Union. Local residents said a group of armed individuals led by Ajit Chakma raided a house where two local UPDF workers, identified as Kaushal and Paresh Chakma, were staying.

Paresh Chakma reportedly escaped unharmed, but Kaushal could not be found after the attack. His whereabouts remain unknown, and local residents said they could not confirm what had happened to him.

The attackers also allegedly vandalized and ransacked the house, scattering and damaging household belongings.

Residents alleged that the attackers were backed by the Bangladesh Army. These attackers are a vigilante proxy group of the Bangladesh Army, operating to undermine the CHT cause.

Later, at around 11 a.m., a group of army personnel from the Bijitola Army Camp arrived at the scene accompanied by Ajit Chakma, according to local residents. The group was still at the location as of 11:45 a.m., they said.

The incident has sparked concern among local residents, who called for the arrest of those responsible for the attack.
