A Tripura teenage boy has reportedly been abducted from Rangapani Tea Garden, Hazarikhil, Noluapara area of Ward 6 under Harualchari Union, Bhujpur police station, Fatikchhari Upazila of Chattogram district.
The incident is said to have taken place on Saturday night, August 9, 2025.
The abducted boy has been identified as Saju Kumar Tripura (17), son of Dilip Kumar Tripura, a resident of Rangapani Tea Garden.
Following the incident, Saju’s father, Dilip Kumar Tripura, filed a written complaint at the Bhujpur Police Station against three unidentified individuals.
In his complaint, he stated that around 10:00 PM on Saturday night, his elder son Raju Tripura (18) and younger son Saju Kumar Tripura (17) had closed their shop and gone to sleep inside the grocery store after dinner.
At around 10:30 PM, three unknown men came to the shop, identifying themselves as police officers, and asked for the shop to be opened.
Both sons woke up and opened the shop. They saw that one of the men was in a police uniform, while the other two were in civilian clothes. After the shop was opened, the three individuals bought betel leaves and cigarettes from the brothers.
Thereafter, the man in the police uniform told Saju Kumar Tripura that he needed to come with them to show the house of a suspect. Believing them to be genuine police officers, and out of respect for the law, Saju stepped out of the shop with them. He was then forcibly taken and pushed into a white private car and abducted.
When Saju screamed, his elder brother Raju rushed outside and saw them driving southward toward the main road with Saju in the car.
Raju then called his father and informed him of the incident. The father rushed to the scene, gathered details, and then contacted Bhujpur Police Station. However, the police could not provide any information about his son.
Later, he formally filed a complaint at the station.
There are allegations that the police did not take immediate action to nab the abductors.
Meanwhile, three hours after the abduction, the kidnappers called the victim’s family from an unknown mobile number and demanded a ransom of 4 million Taka (40 lakhs). They allegedly threatened that if the ransom was not delivered to a specific location by 10:00 AM on Sunday, they would kill Saju.
Family members and relatives have urged the authorities to immediately rescue Saju Kumar Tripura and arrest the abductors to bring them to justice.
