The army conducted a raid at the home of a widow in Jagapara, under Chengi Union in Panchhari upazila of Khagrachhari district, reports say.

The victim has been identified as Chulukpudi Chakma (36), wife of the late Hirohito Chakma, and a resident of Jagapara, Chengi Union, Panchari.
According to reports, around 1:00 PM, a group of 30 to 35 army personnel stormed the widow’s government-allocated home in Jagapara. Although she was not at home at the time, the soldiers allegedly broke into the house to conduct a search. During the raid, they broke open cupboards and ransacked her belongings.
At the same time, another group of soldiers of similar size was deployed in Matuli Para, where they reportedly harassed local residents with intrusive questioning. They also inquired about several other houses, leading locals to believe that more raids might follow.
Earlier, on August 25, there were allegations that the army beat up a man named Bon Kumar Chakma (35), son of Satyajit Chakma, a three-wheeler (Mahindra) driver from Bangalle Para in the Harubil area.
It is worth noting that since the afternoon of August 25, over a hundred soldiers have been stationed in various locations, including Jagapara in Panchari upazila. Locals also reported the presence of several vigilante members accompanying the military.
