Jumma villager arrested, released later in Matiranga

MEMBERS of the Border Guards Bangladesh arrested a Jumma villager, Bappi Tripura, 42, from his home in the village of Headman Para under Gomati Union in Matiranga Upazila in Khagrachari district.
 
Mr Tripura, son of late Dojendra Tripura, was arrested on Friday night, 28 June, when a group of BGB men from Palashpur zone raided their village.
 
The BGB also searched their house and interrogated some government-employed enumerators of disabled persons staying there.
 
They took him to the camp and subjected him to psychological torture before freeing him the next morning.
 
The BGB handed him over to Ranjit Tripura, headman of Gomati Union.
 
No reason was given for the arrest.
