A group of six armed vigilantes, backed by the military, entered Tabla Para in Manikchari upazila, Khagrachhari, on Sunday morning (September 7, 2025) and began engaging in terrorist activities, according to reports. However, local residents confronted and resisted the group.
Although the vigilantes fired blank shots in an attempt to intimidate the crowd, the resisting villagers were reportedly able to capture them along with their weapons.
Later, when the military arrived at the scene to rescue the detained vigilantes, the angry local population attempted to resist the military as well.
As of now, tension remains high in the area, according to sources.
Local residents report that the military has taken up positions in several nearby locations.
