The Bangladesh Army soldiers conducted a search operation at the home of an ordinary villager (a jum cultivator) in Duluchari Maonpara, Ward 6 of Kudukchari Union under Rangamati Sadar Upazila. During the search, household items were reportedly ransacked.
According to sources, around 6:30 AM today (Tuesday, 16 September 2025), a group of 20–25 army personnel stationed at the South Kudukchari Government Primary School (in Abasik) raided Duluchari Maonpara. Upon arriving, they cordoned off the house of an ordinary villager around 8:30 AM and, under the pretext of a search, turned the house upside down.
The raid caused panic among the residents of the village.
The affected villager has been identified as Subanta Chakma (35), son of the late Porimoy Lendu Chakma.
According to the victim, the army personnel thoroughly searched the house but found nothing illegal. Nevertheless, they left after ransacking all the belongings.
Later, the army moved towards Jibatuli Maonpara, where they are currently stationed, according to local sources.
It is still unknown why the search was carried out at his house.
Notably, yesterday (15 September) around 3 PM, a group of 40 soldiers from the Kudukchari sub-zone arrived and took position at the South Kudukchari Government Primary School (in Abasik). While 20–25 of them went to Duluchari Maonpara this morning, the remaining troops are reportedly still stationed at the school.
Due to the army’s presence, regular classes at the school have been disrupted.
