Two Youths Detained on Charges of Gang-Raping a Teenage Girl in Matiranga

An indigenous teenage girl (15) has allegedly been gang-raped in the Ayodhya area of Belchari Union in Matiranga Upazila, Khagrachari.

Local residents detained two youths and handed them over to the police. Two other individuals involved in the incident are reportedly absconding.

The incident is known to have occurred on Monday night (October 20).

The two detained individuals are: Rony Bikash Tripura (32), son of Arun Bikash Roaza, village – Hemanta Headman Para, Belchari Union, and Detol Babu (17), son of Ani Ranjan Tripura, village – Uday Kumar Para, Gomati Union.

The two absconding individuals are Sumon Bikash Tripura (18) and Rimon Tripura (22).

It is learned that on Monday night (October 20) around 10:30 PM, the victim went to the local Ayodhya Kali Temple to watch a Puja (worship) with her relative. At that time, four local youths called her away on the pretext of talking and forcibly raped her.

Later, when the incident became known, attempts were made locally to settle the matter, but these efforts failed.

Subsequently, locals detained the two individuals and informed the police. The police then arrived, detained them, and took them to the police station. The police have stated that the process of filing a case in this matter is underway.
