Members of the Bangladesh Army looted cash after conducting a search at the home of a villager in Himanshu Karbari Para of Ward 5 in Dighinala Union No. 4 under Dighinala upazila of Khagrachari district.
The villager subjected to the search is Shantimoy Chakma (36), son of Shantimoni Chakma.
According to local sources, today, Thursday (20 November 2025), at around 7 p.m., a group of army personnel went to Himanshu Karbari Para and raided the house of Shantimoy Chakma.
During the raid, the army repeatedly asked Shantimoy, the homeowner, “Where are the UPDF members?” In response, he said, “No UPDF members live here.”
The soldiers then entered the house and conducted a thorough search. Finding nothing illegal, they allegedly took taka 7,350 from the cupboard, according to family members.
It is worth mentioning that in recent days, under the pretext of so-called operations in Dighinala, incidents of house searches, harassment, and religious insults by the army have reportedly increased.
Local residents have strongly condemned and protested such actions by the army and have urged the higher authorities of the military as well as the government to put an immediate stop to this harassment.
