M N Larma group activist shot by rival faction

A MEMBER of the M. N. Larma faction of the Jana Samhati Samiti was shot and wounded by its rival Santu Larma faction in Baghaichari yesterday, 30 January.
 
The wounded JSS activist, Bipin Chakma alias Kushan, 45, son of late Chitta Ranjan Chakma, has been admitted to Khagrachari Sadar hospital.
According to local sources, Bipin Chakma, hailing from North Pablakhali village under Khedarmara Union in Baghaichari, was having conversation with a Bengali youth in front of the Upazila ground around 3pm when Santu group men came from the direction of Bot-toli riding a motorbike and fired at him. He was hit in his right arm.
 
His younger brother, Abhijan Chakma, was also targeted twice for assassination by Santu group last year, but he escaped unhurt on both occasions.
