THE ARMY arrested an activist of the United Peoples’ Democratic Front (UPDF, web: www.updfcht.com) from Maischari Bazaar in Khagrachari district on Wednesday.
According to sources, Basu Chakma, 40, was arrested at 11am on 27 August when he went to Maischari bazaar to attend a meeting.
He was then taken to Mahalchari zone where he was subjected to physical and psychological torture before being handed over to the police in the evening.
He was sent to Khagrachari jail today, Thursday. However, it has not been immediately known what charges have been brought against him. —————-
