THE SETTLERS on Wednesday, March 14, forcibly occupied five acres of land belonging to Motin Tripura son of late Ananda Mohan Tripura in Choto Panchari under Amtoli Mouza No. 189 in Matiranga Upazila, Khagrachari district.
Motin Tripura told chtnews.com that at 11 in the morning Md. Garu Mian (65) son of late Ali Mian, his two sons Md. Azgor (32) and Omar Ali (25) and another settler from Jaliapara of Gomati entered his land and began clearing jungle.
‘When I protested, they threatened me with death’, he said and added that earlier a week ago the settlers had made another attempt to capture his land.
Motin said he has documents to prove his ownership of the land in question.
