Molten body of a man found in Ruma, alleged to have been abducted by KNF

The police recovered the melted body of a person in Ruma upazila of Bandarban. The family members claimed that the recovered body belonged to Lalramchah Bawm alias Laram Bawm (43), who was kidnapped and missing a few days ago. He was allegedly abducted by the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF).

Yesterday Friday (February 10, 2023) at noon, it is reported that the dead body was recovered from the ditch of Runtong Khumi Para Hill, adjacent to Darjeeling Para, from Harmon Para of Ward No. 7 of Ruma Sadar Union.

When the people who went to Jum work saw the body and informed the police, the police went to the spot and recovered the body. Later the victim’s wife confirmed that the body was her husband’s.

Lalramchah Bom is the eldest son of Sangriam Bawm of Bogalek Para of Ruma Upazila. He has cottage and food hotel businesses in Bpgalek tourist spots.

According to local and family sources, an armed group of terrorists entered the local church in Bagalek area around the evening of February 5. Meanwhile, the terrorists abducted five people including Lalramchah Bawm alias Laram Bawm, his father Sangliam Bawm, wife Nujing Bawm and his son from there. The kidnappers later released the others but did not release Laram Bawm. Since then he has been missing. Local villagers and family members searched for him but could not find him.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Ruma police station. Alamgir Hossain confirmed the authenticity of the information about the recovery of the body. However, the family members claim that the half-melted person is Lalramchah Bawm, but his identity is not yet confirmed, he said, adding that the legal process is ongoing in this regard.
