The army reportedly conducted a search at the home of a UPDF member in the Joutha Khamar area of Ward No. 2 under Sapchari Union (No. 3) of Rangamati Sadar Upazila.
The search reportedly took place yesterday, Wednesday afternoon (7 January 2025).
The UPDF member whose house was searched has been identified as Batya Chakma (55), son of Ratna Kumar Chakma. He is a resident of the Joutha Khamar area.
According to local sources, at around 5:30 p.m. yesterday (Wednesday), a group of 20–25 army personnel from the Furomoun Army Camp went to Joutha Khamar village and conducted a search at Batya Chakma’s house. At the time, no family members were present at the house.
After the search, having found no illegal items, the army personnel reportedly took a fair-price TCB card that had been issued to the family through the Union Parishad.
Local residents stated that even after completing the search, the army personnel remained in the area for some time before returning to their camp.
