The army reportedly conducted a search at the home of village karbari (traditional village chief) Takra Kumar Tripura (60), son of the late Amentor Tripura, in Natun Para village of Sapmara area under Ward No. 4 of Union No. 9 in Matiranga Upazila of Khagrachari.
According to local sources, on Tuesday afternoon (20 January 2026) at around 5:00 pm, a group of 25 to 30 army personnel from the Matiranga Bangmara Army Camp went to Takra Kumar Tripura’s house and carried out a search.
During the search, the army personnel allegedly questioned Takra Kumar Tripura and his family members about various matters, including “where UPDF members live, where they eat, and whether they are provided with food.”
After conducting the search for approximately half an hour, the army personnel returned to their camp at around 5:30 pm. Before leaving, they allegedly threatened Takra Kumar Tripura and his family, saying that they would “come again,” according to local residents.
