Four members of the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) have reportedly been detained and taken away by the army from Mono Mohajon Para in the Pakshimuro area of Sindukchhari Union under Guimara Upazila in Khagrachhari. One of those detained is a former UPDF member.
The arrests took place in the early hours of Monday, June 1, 2026.
The detainees are:
- Chingkhiu Marma (40), father: late Momrachai Marma, village: Jadugonala, Ward No. 3, Kyanghat Union, Mahalchhari, Khagrachhari.
- Babul Chakma (27), father: Alang Chakma, village: Badigulo Para, Ward No. 3, Maischhari UP, Mahalchhari, Khagrachhari.
- Chundi Lal Chakma (47), father: late Kamini Mohan Chakma, village: Gangamachhra, Ward No. 4, Maischhari UP, Mahalchhari, Khagrachhari.
- Ruhendu Chakma (40), father: Sumati Ranjan Chakma, village: Mono Mohajon Para, Ward No. 3, Sindukchhari UP, Guimara, Khagrachhari. He is a former UPDF member.
According to sources, at around 2:30 AM, a group of army personnel led by Commander Md. Harun and intelligence officer Md. Zia of Dhumnirghat Camp under the Mahalchhari Army Zone raided Mono Mohajon Para in the Pakshimuro area of Sindukchhari. The soldiers surrounded a house where UPDF members were staying. After searching the premises, they detained UPDF members Chingkhiu Marma, Babul Chakma, and Chundi Lal Chakma from inside the house, and former UPDF member Ruhendu Chakma from his own adjacent residence.
It has also been reported that a local thug named Miton Chakma (Pottom) provided necessary assistance to the army during the operation.
The detainees are currently being held at Dhumnirghat Camp, according to sources.
