Bangladesh Army Detains UPDF Member in Dighinala

The Bangladesh army has reportedly detained a member of the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) in Dighinala, Khagrachhari.

The arrest took place Sunday morning, June 7, 2026, at Baghaichhari Duor Bazar in Dighinala.

The detained UPDF member has been identified as Debamoy Chakma alias Apon, 52, son of Satindra Chakma, of Chandra Mohan Karbari Para village, Babuchara Union Parishad, Dighinala.

According to local sources, at around 10:00 a.m., Debamoy Chakma was waiting at Baghaichhari Duor Bazar for a vehicle to travel to an organizational engagement. At that time, an army patrol from Babuchara Sub-Zone arrived at the location. The soldiers conducted a search of a shop belonging to a man named Ujjwal Chakma. When Debamoy Chakma, who was present inside the shop, attempted to leave, the soldiers detained him.

Following his detention, he was taken to Babuchara Sub-Zone, sources said.
