THE ARMY in Sindukchari entered a Jumma village on Saturday morning and fired gunshots creating panic among the residents.

Locals said the soldiers from Sindukchari zone in Mahalchari Upazila went to Kolachari village in two military vehicles.

They first fired 4-5 rounds of gunshots near the house of Rangamo Chakma (60) and then in front of a tea shop at a place called Amtola.

The shooting comes more than a week after the army searched three Jumma houses including that of Rangamo Chakma in the area.
