THE Hill Students’ Council and Democratic Youth Forum held a demonstration in Naniachar today, protesting the killing of Chizimoni Chakma and his two-year old daughter Orki Chakma in Baghaichari.
The protesters demanded of the government to arrest the armed Santu group men responsible for the killing.
They also held a protest march which took off from Rest House ground at 1:30pm and paraded Upazila headquarters.
Later, PCP leader Tapu Moni Chakma and DYF leader Priyo Chakma addressed a rally held at Rest House ground.
They condemned the killing of the two on the day of Boisabi festival and regretted that the government had done nothing to arrest the culprits.
The two leaders also urged the government to remove Santu Larma from the Regional Council, saying, “There will be no peace as long as Mr Larma remains in the RC.”
