TWO innocent villagers were abducted by armed members of the Santu faction of the Jana Samhati Samiti in Longudu under Rangamati district.
Sources said on the night of 23 September, a group of 15-16 Santu Group men led by Karun Chakma, Bitu Chakma and Kalyan Chakma raided the village of Boradam in Longudu Upazila and kidnapped Anil Joti Chakma, aged 49, son of Joy Mohan Chakma and Indu Bikash Chakma, aged 55, son of Zamani Mohan Chakma from their homes.
The reason for their abduction could not be known. The Santu Group often kidnaps innocent people to exact ransom from them.
UPDF’s Rangamati district unit leader Shanti Dev Chakma in a statement issued yesterday condemned the incident and demanded that the victims be released immediately.
