The Bangladesh Army has been accused of raiding a home and assaulting two residents in the Khada Para area of Ward No. 6 under Belchhori Union in Matiranga Upazila, Khagrachhari. The incident allegedly took place at around 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
The primary victim, Mohi Ranjan Tripura, 37, son of Robi Kumar Tripura, is a resident of Khada Para.
According to local sources, between 25 and 30 soldiers from Bangmara Army Camp entered Khada Para during the early hours of the morning, reportedly approaching through the Sapmara and Machho Chhara roads. At around 4:00 a.m., the soldiers allegedly surrounded and searched the residence of Mohi Ranjan Tripura.
Speaking to CHT News, Mohi Ranjan alleged that the troops first cordoned off his home before entering and conducting a search. During the operation, he claimed, household belongings were disturbed and sacks of paddy stored inside the house were damaged.
He further alleged that although no illegal items were found during the search, soldiers physically assaulted him and threatened his wife, Bishnupriya Tripura.
According to Mohi Ranjan, the soldiers also subjected the family to what he described as harassing and intimidating questioning. Before leaving, they allegedly warned the family, saying, “We will come back to your home again.”
Local residents also alleged that soldiers detained and assaulted Daluksa Tripura, 35, the son-in-law of Shantiswaran Tripura, a neighbor of Mohi Ranjan. Residents said the detention appeared to have no apparent justification.
