A BENGALI settler youth named Eman Ali was arrested on Friday 2 February for attempting to rape a Jumma girl in Bongoltoli village under Baghaihcari Upazila, Rangamati district.
The girl had just gone to bed after reading her class books when the would-be rapist Eman Ali, a tubewell mechanic, attacked her.
Her father told chtnews.com: ‘It was about 10:45 p. m. I heard sounds of a desperate tussle coming from my daughter’s room, so I went there and saw Eman Ali pressed her mouth and throat with his hands.’
Eman was caught with the help of the elders and youths of the village and then handed over to the police.
The victim’s father further said that Eman Ali, a resident of Amarpur village under Ultachari Union in Panchari Upazila and a son of Abdul Latif, was there to dig a tubewell under an ADB project near his house.
The work was completed and Eman Ali was to leave on Saturday morning.
