Two Jumma houses torched by army in Sajek

THE army on Saturday burned down two houses belonging to two poor Jumma villagers in Midingachari under Ward No. 7 in Sajek Union of Baghaichari Upazila in Rangamati district.

Amulyo Roton Chakma son of late Laxmidhon Chakma and Sonadhon Chakma son of Monu Ranjon Chakma and their family members were away in the jungle to collect Phuljharoo (a kind of shrub with which floors are swept) when the soldiers from Baghaihat zone torched their houses.

‘The incident took place at 3:30 p. m. A group of army went there and burned the houses on the pretext that they were ‘empty’, an eyewitness told chtnews.com.
