THE JSS Reformists shot dead, Surjo Bikash Chakma, a social activist, at Doya Mohan Karbari Para in Upper Perachara, about three kilometers south of Khagrachari district town on Monday, 16 April.
The 52-year-old was taking part in a lunch party hosted by his friend Doyal Chakma on the occasion of the Boisabi festival when an armed gang belonging to JSS Reformists raided the house at 4 p.m., shot him point blank in the head and chest and then ran away.
He hailed from Komolchari village in Khagrachari and ran for UP chairman in the last election.
The JSS Reformists, known for their intimate relationship with the Bangladesh Army, have embarked on a killing spree recently, with at least five people, including UPDF organizer Mithun Chakma, losing their lives.
