AN activist of the United Peoples’ Democratic Front (UPDF), Notun Moni Chakma, was hacked to dead by a planted agent of the army-backed vigilante group in Baghaichari, Rangamati on Saturday night.
According to sources, the 35-year-old and his friend Amoroton Chakma alias Dorshon were sleeping out near his home in Balukhali village under Korengatoli Union when Amoroton Chakma, who turned out to be a planted agent of the vigilantes, hacked him to dead.
Amoroton Chakma returned to the vigilantes after the grisly murder.
Notun Moni Chakma had joined the UPDF about one and a half years ago after breaking with the JSS-Reformist group, which had helped the army in creating the Nobyo Mukhosh Bahini vigilante group in November last year.
